About the Project

A bilingual medical terminology dictionary mapping Malay medical terms to their English equivalents and vice versa. This was an early-career project, born from the practical reality that Malaysian medical education is conducted primarily in English, while patient communication happens overwhelmingly in Malay.

The gap is real and consequential. A doctor who knows "myocardial infarction" but cannot explain "serangan jantung" in precise Malay terms to a patient's family is failing at the most fundamental level of clinical communication. This dictionary was an attempt to bridge that gap systematically rather than leaving it to individual improvisation.

What This Demonstrates

Even as an early-career project, it signals the same instinct that runs through the rest of this portfolio: identifying a structural gap, recognizing that nobody else was filling it, and building the tool rather than waiting for someone else to do it. The pattern of "doctor who builds things" did not start with code. It started with words.
